If you like Gin & Tonic, then you'll love our Oily Skin Blend #1... although if you're not yet 18 you'll have to take my word for it.
Created with clinical grade essential oils, our skin blends will help you feel good whilst you go about your daily skincare routine, and they'll help your skin cope better with the stresses of daily life.
This blend is all about oily skin, whether it's the dreaded T-zone, or a few pimples or cystic acne. If you like to pick your spots (even though we all know we shouldn't), or are prone to hormonal breakouts;, this is the blend for you!
This blend not only smells sublime, it has great benefits for your skin.
And here's why...
It's because of the properties of these essential oils.
Lemon (Citrus limon) from Italy is perfect for oily skin. The scent is refreshing and uplifting and has the added bonus of fighting bacteria. It has the ability to dissolve sebum, and is also an astringent which tones the skin, making it perfect for teenage skin and cystic acne.
Geranium Bourbon (Pelargonium graveolens) from Reunion Island has a lovely soft perfume and is ideal for oily and congested skin as it soothes whilst it heals wounds like the spots and blackheads we tend to pick and squeeze.
Clinical trials have also shown it to be antimicrobial, so that helps with any bacteria you've accidentally introduced into them.
Geranium helps regulate sebum production, so whether your skin is oily all over or just the T-zone, this oil will help prevent the oily areas becoming more oily, and the dry areas from becoming too dry. And it balances hormones, making this blend the perfect choice for period zits!
Geranium is also good for anxiety... so when you've just picked that spot before the big night out or an important meeting or interview, geranium will help calm you and your skin down.
Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis) from Croatia is the main ingredient in your gin and tonic! Juniper essential oil can dispel negative thoughts and boost self-confidence. I think it's great that the oils for acne, which lets face it, tends to drag your mood down, are all uplifting mood oils.
Juniper is great for acne as it helps clear the skin from the inside out, and this blend will penetrate through to your dermal layer. As an added bonus juniper helps in preventing ageing, (according to a study done in 2002).
You will often find the above oils are often in oily skin blends, due to their effectiveness. However, I felt it needed something more, to make it even more effective, and to help make it less heady when you're applying it. So I've added this absolute gem to the blend...
Cedarwood Himalayan (Cedrus deodorata) from Nepal. This oil is known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, as well as being a lymphatic decongestant, so has the ability to help with clearing cystic acne.
I've chosen the Himalayan oil as it's softer in scent and blends better with the above oils than the Atlas version.
How to use? Add 15 drops to 30ml of vegetable oil and gently apply to your skin. After 15 minutes tissue off the excess. If you like to wear makeup during the day, this blend is best applied at night.
You can also add this blend to water to create a mist spray, to apple cider vinegar to create a toner, to your moisturiser and to your cleanser. I do recommend you do not exceed the ratio of 15 drops per 30ml, otherwise your skin could become sensitive to this blend with long term use.
